What we’re about
GenAI UK is a practitioner-led community exploring how generative AI, LLMs, agents, RAG systems and applied AI products are designed, built and operated in the real world.
We bring together engineers, ML practitioners, data and platform teams, founders, product leaders, researchers, and technologists who are working with or curious about the next generation of AI systems.
We run:
• In-person meetups in London
• Online events for our wider UK & global audience
• Collaboration with related communities across the Community Stack ecosystem
Whether you’re hands-on building systems, working in strategy or product, experimenting with new AI tools or just starting your GenAI journey, you’re very welcome here.
Our events focus on:
• LLMs, agents, RAG and applied GenAI architectures
• Evaluation, reliability, security and safety in production
• Developer tooling, platforms and integration patterns
• MLOps / LLMOps, observability and lifecycle management
• Product, UX and human-in-the-loop design
• Real-world case studies and hard-won lessons learned
We prioritise practical, experience-driven talks over hype—sharing what actually works (and what doesn’t) when delivering GenAI in real-world environments.
This community is part of the Community Stack Ecosystem, meaning members can also discover and join our wider communities across Data & AI, Cloud Platforms, Platform Engineering, DevOps, Leadership and more. You can explore and join other ecosystems and events here.
Members are automatically subscribed to our weekly community newsletter via Meetup, where we share upcoming events, speaker opportunities, learning resources and ecosystem updates. We also publish selected talks and highlights through our YouTube channel.
We’re always looking for:
• Speakers — demos, case studies, engineering deep dives and applied AI stories
• Hosts — organisations able to support future meetups and community venues
• Sponsors — support with refreshments, recording, accessibility or livestreaming
• Collaborators — research groups, meetups and ecosystem partners
If you’d like to speak, host, sponsor or get involved, please reach out via Meetup or connect with Ethan Sumner on LinkedIn.

GenAI UK #16 Scaling AI Teams & Reducing Toil in Security - Incident.io
Incident.io offices, 66 City Road, Ec1Y 2AL. Featherstone building, floor 2, London, GBHello and welcome to our next GenAI UK in-person event, delivered in collaboration with Data & AI Leaders.
This session brings together engineers, ML practitioners, data and platform teams, product leaders, and technologists who are building and operating generative AI systems in real-world environments, alongside senior practitioners responsible for scaling those capabilities inside organisations.
This collaborative session focuses on what happens when GenAI moves beyond experimentation, exploring how AI capabilities are built, scaled, and operated in production, and how teams reduce operational toil while maintaining security, reliability, and delivery velocity.
Our meetups are friendly, welcoming, and practitioner-led, creating space for the community to learn from real systems, real teams, and real trade-offs.
This session will include technical and experience-led talks, Q&A, and open discussion with members of the GenAI UK community.
We run:
• Online events for our UK & global audience
• In-person meetups in London
Please keep an eye on our Meetup page for future sessions.
We are delighted to host this in-person GenAI UK event in London on the 22nd of January, in collaboration with Data & AI Leaders and Incident.io.
Speakers and Sessions:
Speaker: Rory Malcolm, Product Engineer at Incident.io
Session Title: My first year as an AI engineer
Rory walks through Incident.io’s first year building an AI capability, covering both the technical and organisational challenges of moving from early experimentation to a team able to make meaningful progress against real AI goals.
Due to a last-minute change of plans, Ethan will be delivering a talk instead of Dylan.
Speaker: Ethan Sumner, Co-Founder & CEO - Community Stack
Session Title: Pathway to Production
Description: In this session, Ethan will be discussing viable options of pathways to production for AI workloads, the well-architected framework and FinOps.
Agenda:
18:00 — Welcome & refreshments
18:30 — Introduction - Ethan Sumner
18:35 — Ethan Sumner
19:10 — Break
19:20 — Rory Malcolm
19:55 — Close & networking
We are always keen to hear from:
• Speakers — demos, applied GenAI projects, engineering deep dives
• Sponsors — support for venues, recording, accessibility or community initiatives

Please keep an eye on our Meetup page for future sessions.
We are delighted to host this online event on 2nd of March.
Speakers & Sessions:
Speaker: Meryem Arik, Co-Founder & CEO, Doubleword
Session Title: Async Agents in Production: Failure Modes and Fixes
Description: As models improve, we are starting to build long-running, asynchronous agents such as deep research agents and browser agents that can execute multi-step workflows autonomously. These systems unlock new use cases, but they fail in ways that short-lived agents do not.
The longer an agent runs, the more early mistakes compound, and the more token usage grows through extended reasoning, retries, and tool calls. Patterns that work for request-response agents often break down, leading to unreliable behaviour and unpredictable costs.
This talk is aimed at use case developers, with secondary relevance for platform engineers. It covers the most common failure modes in async agents and practical design patterns for reducing error compounding and keeping token costs bounded in production.
