What we’re about
Generative Art and Adversarial Networks is an event to discuss, share, and collaborate on generative art and AI over tea.
Discussions will revolve around exploring, creating, and participating in generative art enabled by developing or fledgling technology, with emphasis on AI.
Members are encouraged to share anything interesting they've found in this domain, whether it's some art they really fancy, or a new way to think about some part of the technology ecosystem.
Generative art is art that in whole or in part has been created with the use of an autonomous system. An autonomous system in this context is generally one that is non-human and can independently determine features of an artwork that would otherwise require decisions made directly by the artist. In some cases, the human creator may claim that the generative system represents their own artistic idea, and in others that the system takes on the role of the creator.
“Generative art” often refers to algorithmic art (algorithmically determined computer-generated artwork), but artists can also make it using systems of chemistry, biology, mechanics and robotics, smart materials, manual randomization, mathematics, data mapping, symmetry, tiling, and more.
