Impact Solutions Meetup - How you can change policy

Details
INTO ACTION.
This March, we’ll be talking about moving mission into policy action. Both nonprofits and for-profits with a social mission have an interest in pushing forward legislation that supports the good work of the organization. How do we make that happen? Where do you even start? Join us to find out what you can do.
Three speakers will talk about specific ways you can engage as an company and as a network in talking with decision-makers:
• Saleem Chapman, Policy and Advocacy Manager of the Sustainable Business Network of Philadelphia (http://www.sbnphiladelphia.org), on why SBN has created a position specifically to rally members to advocate for Sustainable practices, and what they aim to accomplish this year
• Ron Blount and the Alliance Taxi Co-op (http://www.coop.cab) spent six years of applying, being denied and applying again (http://generocity.org/philly/2015/03/20/ppa-approves-taxi-worker-co-op-following-threat-of-lawsuit/) to be approved by the Philadelphia Parking Authority (PPA) for a dispatch license for their cooperative taxi company
• Felicia Bender of Reinvestment Fund (http://www.reinvestment.com) will talk about her experience as a participant in advocacy efforts as part of the CDFI industry- what to say, what not to say, and how to get things done.
These programmed meetups are designed to help leaders in Philly succeed by getting into the nitty gritty of what works (and what doesn't) for triple bottom line organizations.
What to expect:
Tangible solutions to take home to your organization and community. There will be time to network before and after the speakers, as well as Q&A — come prepared to dig in to these issues.
Oh, and beer!
