Rescheduled ride west of Geneva along the Via Rhona and back along the Aire

After some unsettled weather on Thursday let's rearrange the ride for this coming Tuesday 7th July!

The ride is a gentle 25km route, this time heading out west of Geneva following the Via Rhona cycleway through the beautiful villages of Confignon and Bernex. From there we will drop down through some beautiful vineyards into Lully, enjoying some fantastic views across to the Salève. We will ride along beside the Aire river back towards Geneva, stopping on the way for a picnic of course - so make sure to bring some food with you! Finally we will rejoin the Via Rhona route and ride back in to Geneva centre!

A couple of notes about the route:

• There are one or two short but sharp and sadly unavoidable climbs! But don’t worry we will take them slowly!

• There are a few sections of the route which are on unpaved bike paths rather than roads - I have ridden the route on a road-bike with no problems but just so you are aware of this!

Again as with the last ride for obvious reasons we will have to limit the number of riders so if you intend on coming please sign up! Social distancing will be observed throughout the ride. Also, as the sun was beginning to set at the end of our first ride it's a good idea to bring bike lights if you have some!

The itinerary will be roughly as follows:

17h45: We will meet on Ile Rousseau this time!!

18h00: We will head out west following the Via Rhona route riding through some beautiful villages such as Confignon and Bernex before dropping down to the Aire river.

19h15: Picnic break and relaxation along the Aire riverbed!

19h45: Ride back to Geneva along the Aire river and then rejoining the Via Rhona.

20h45/21h00: Arrive back to Ile Rousseau
