Walk Description:
A beautiful loop along the Arve River, from Sierne to Vessy and back—a natural escape in the heart of Geneva. The route mostly follows the riverbanks, so you can enjoy the refreshing coolness of the Arve on hot summer days.
Difficulty: Moderate (some stairs narrow paths, crossing Vessy Footbridge), but suitable for all skill levels.

Highlights:

  • Scenic and varied landscapes (river, greenery, local wildlife).
  • Dog-friendly: The Arve River runs along the left side of the trail—ideal for water-loving or swimming dogs.
  • Popular area for birdwatching, hiking, and mountain biking, so expect to meet other outdoor enthusiasts.
  • Open year-round, with each season offering its own unique charm.

***

Precautions:

  • For small dogs/puppies: The Arve has strong currents—always supervise your dog near the water.
  • Leash rules: Dogs are welcome and may be off-leash in some areas (check local signs).

***

Participation Requirements:
Your dog must be:

  • Old enough to walk for 1.5 hours (no puppies under 10 months, unless you can carry them).
  • Friendly with other dogs.
  • Obedient (good recall, especially around wildlife or livestock).
  • In good health (no diarrhea, coughing, limping, or post-operative recovery).

Responsibility:
Geneva Hiking with Dogs is a voluntary organisation and will not be held responsible for any incidents or accidents during one of its walks. I ask that you are vigilant with your dog and manage any antisocial behaviour. You may be asked to keep your dog on a lead if it is demonstrating antisocial behaviour.

***

Children:
Children are welcome! Please ensure there are enough adults to supervise both children and dogs for everyone’s safety.

***

Important Note:
Please let us know in advance if your dog has any behavioral issues (e.g., fear of larger dogs, dominance). We can then agree on necessary precautions (leash, muzzle, etc.) for a smooth and enjoyable walk for all.
