How can general systems thinking and RE help us understand what customers want?
Details
During this chat with Gil Regev, we will talk about General Systems Thinking and how it can help you with design and innovation in the context of Requirements Engineering (RE)
Requirements Engineering (RE) is an active research field that has been around for a long time. For practitioners it has resulted in the CPRE certification program and is referenced in IIBA’s Guide to the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK).
There are many parallels between RE and JTBD as they fundamentally address similar questions. Goal Oriented Requirements Engineering (GORE) in particular shares strong philosophical foundations with JTBD.
We will be talking with Gil Regev, a senior researcher at EPFL's Laboratory of Systemic modeling (LAMS) and knowledge manager at Itecor, a digital transformation consultancy firm.
Gil's work is heavily inspired by Systems Thinking as his research focuses on topics that relate to the organization's understanding of itself and its environment, such as: Requirements Engineering (RE), Business modeling, Enterprise architecture, Knowledge Management and creativity in organizations and the way they influence information systems design.
The idea is to have an interactive discussion with all participants so everyone will be free to intervene or ask questions at any time. In order to keep things moving and make sure we cover as much ground as possible, I (Jonathan) will be leading the discussion.
I very much look forward to this discussion and to meeting you all virtually!
