Orchard: Modular ASP.NET MVC framework

Orchard (http://orchardproject.net/) is an open source content management system built with ASP.NET MVC and NHibernate. This session will be about how Orchard works and how it can impact how you build modular ASP.NET MVC applications.

Weblogs.asp.net

We deployed 750 individual blogs on Azure running with Orchard including Scott Guthrie (http://weblogs.asp.net/scottgu)’s, using a single Azure instance. This session will explain what challenges we solved to support high density websites hosting.

Jint

Jint (https://github.com/sebastienros/jint) is an open source Javascript interpreter in .NET. This session will show how interpreters can be done in .NET, and why a Javascript interpreter can be useful in many scenarios.

About the speaker:

Sebastien (http://sebastienros.com/) is a developer at Microsoft in the ASP.NET (http://asp.net/) team and the lead developer on the Orchard CMS project. He co-founded a Microsoft .NET specialized company named Evaluant in 2001, giving training and consultancy services on the .NET platform. He has developped several open source .NET projects like an ORM (http://uss.codeplex.com/), a JavaScript interpreter (https://github.com/sebastienros/jint), a mathematical expressions interpreter (http://ncalc.codeplex.com/) and a Document storage library (https://github.com/sebastienros/yessql).

Practical information

As HEPIA is closed for the summer, the facilities are slightly less accessible in the evenings. The small door on Rue du Jura ( https://goo.gl/maps/q0lWh , http://imgur.com/R7VRWCP ) will be held open to participants between 18.20 and 18.35. Please don't be late as it's quite far from the classroom to the door to come and open for you.
