This Saturday we are going to climb Pic Chaussy (2,351 m) from Col des Mosses. This is a 10.8 km out-and-back trail with an elevation gain of 928 m. The path is steep at times but well-marked, and the summit offers wide views over the Alpes Vaudoises, Lake Geneva, and the Bernese Alps.
The weather is expected to be partly sunny, with cool morning temperatures around 13 °C and warming to 20–22 °C by midday. Please bring sun protection, enough water, and a light jacket for the start and the summit.
🏔️ HIKE DETAILS
We will meet at Col des Mosses bus stop at 10:20 and start our climb directly from there. The path first crosses alpine pastures, then heads up steadily toward Pic Chaussy. We will stop for lunch at the summit before descending back the same way to Col des Mosses.

⚠️ TECHNICAL / PHYSICAL DIFFICULTY
This hike is not technical, but the ascent is sustained and requires good fitness. You should be comfortable with ~1,000 m elevation gain. We will walk at a steady pace with a few stops, but not many.
🥾 TRACTION
Please wear proper hiking boots with good grip, and bring trekking poles if you usually use them.
🌏 DIRECTIONS
From Geneva:
- IR90, direction Brig, departs Genève at 08:05, arrives Aigle at 09:21 (Platform 4 → Platform 14).
- R71, direction Les Diablerets, departs Aigle at 09:29, arrives Le Sépey at 09:57.
- Walk 1 minute to the bus stop.
- Bus 175, direction Château-d’Oex, departs Le Sépey gare at 10:03, arrives Col des Mosses at 10:17.
Return: Buses leave Col des Mosses at :35 past every hour toward Aigle. From there, regular trains connect back to Geneva. To be able to take the 15:35 bus, we need to start the descent at 13:00 😊.
