Last-minute hike!

This Saturday we are going to do a snowshoe hike from Haut-de-Caux to Jaman, above Montreux. This is a 3.6 km one-way route with an elevation gain of about 675 m, following a scenic winter trail through alpine pastures and forested slopes.

Snow cover may only start around 1,600 m, so at the very beginning we may not immediately need snowshoes (raquettes de neige). However, snowshoes are mandatory, as higher up snow depth increases. In addition, crampons are highly recommended as there may be sections where snow is thin, compact, or icy, and crampons are great help.

We will start from Haut-de-Caux, and ascending. We will circle around the Merdasson mountain, and then continue toward Jaman, where we’ll stop for lunch at the "Buvette de Jaman". There is no need to bring a picnic unless you prefer to.

The hike itself will take us around 3 hours, not including lunch. After lunch, we will return by train from Jaman, or hike back down for those who wish to continue on foot.

🏔️ HIKE DETAILS
