Welcome to the Geneva Writers Group (GWG) on Meetup.com. The GWG is Swiss-based non-profit association that brings together 150 writers of diverse backgrounds and cultures! Rooted in Geneva’s international character and with dedicated members around the world, the GWG's supports aspiring, emerging, and established authors at every stage of their creative journey through. Our programming includes a diversity of activities and community-oriented events. including writing workshops, confereneces, readings, open mics, write-ins or co-writing sessions, discussion circles, author and industry events, lectures, critique groups, and other creative endeavors and collaborations! Write-a-Thon: A Day of Writing Together with Shut Up & Write!®

The Geneva Writers’ Group is teaming up with Shut Up & Write!® for a free, day-long gathering of writers at Uni-Mail in Geneva.
And before the words Write-a-Thon scare you off, don’t worry: this isn’t an endurance test!
The idea is simple: to carve out some uninterrupted writing time in the company of others. Whether you’re working on a novel, short story, poem, memoir, essay, academic project, or simply trying to get some ideas onto the page, you’re welcome to join us.
Come for an hour or stay all day! We’ll have tables reserved especially for our group in the bright and sunny Uni-Mail, where we’ll write together in focused two-hour sessions, with short breaks to stretch, chat, grab a coffee, and recharge.
The schedule provides some structure, but participation is entirely flexible. Drop in whenever you like, stay as long as you wish, and work at your own pace.
Here’s how the day will unfold:
- 08:00–08:15 — Meet & check-in
- 08:15–10:15 — Writing session
- 10:15–10:30 — Meet & check-in
- 10:30–12:30 — Writing session
- 12:30–13:30 — Lunch break
- 13:30–13:45 — Meet & check-in
- 13:45–15:45 — Writing session
- 15:45–16:00 — Meet & check-in
- 16:00–18:00 — Writing session
- 18:00 onwards — Apéro nearby (location to be confirmed)
Where: Uni-Mail, Boulevard du Pont-d’Arve 40, 1205 Geneva. Find us by the big staircase in the lobby.
Cost: Free!
Who can join? Everyone! Writers of all levels, genres, and backgrounds are welcome. You don’t need to be a Geneva Writers Group member to participate.
What to bring: Your laptop, notebook, or whatever you like to write with, and a project (or idea!) you’d like to spend some time on.
Registration: This event is free, but we’d love for you to register on the Geneva Writers’ Group website so we know how many writers to expect:
