Weedon Island Paddle

Details
Let's paddle Weedon Island and check out the mangroves!
Please arrive early enough so we can launch as close to 10 am as possible.
Keep an eye on this event page as we get closer, since the weather and tide will impact our event.
The canoe/kayak launch is adjacent to the fishing pier at the end of Weedon Drive NE. The South Paddling Trail is accessible from this launch site. Restrooms and a canoe washing station are also located here. If you need to rent, you can get them from https://ecomersion.com/
The South Paddling Trail is a four-mile loop best accessed at the canoe launch next to the fishing pier at the end of Weedon Drive NE. This trail meanders through mangroves and seagrass flats and between islands of the preserve and along the edge of Tampa Bay. Expect to see wading birds such as reddish egret, roseate spoonbills and white ibis.
• Always use an approved personal flotation device (PFD). • Bring plenty of water, even on cool days. • Protect yourself from the sun using sunscreen and a hat, even on overcast days. • Insects go with the territory! Insect repellent and lightweight, long-sleeved shirts help reduce their biting opportunities.
