Iconic Calton Hill

Details

Views from Calton Hill are amongst the most spectacular and iconic in Edinburgh.
This walk is intended for anyone with dogs to go for a dawdle. Whether you have a dog or not we'll take advantage of the the beautiful views from Edinburgh's Calton Hill.
A Dawdle is a walk where there is time to admire the view, smell the flowers, have a chat, and allow the dogs to get a proper sniff.
The following transport lines have routes that pass near Calton Hill
 Bus : 22 34 43 44 49 X18 X25 X38
 Train : SCOTRAIL
Sitting just to the east of the city centre, Calton Hill not only provides fantastic views from all directions, but is home to some unique architecture and historical features: the classical style of the National Monument, the neo-Gothic Nelson's Monument and the Enlightenment-era Observatory
The meeting point for this walk is outside the Apex Hotel on Waterloo Place. From there, some steps and a short but relatively steep incline lead up to the top of Calton Hill. Once there, paths are good and relatively level. We'll then retrace our steps and take the short walk to a dog friendly place for refreshments.
Please note that walks are organised and run by volunteers with no liability insurance, that by attending one of these walks you do so at your own risk. Thank you.
