Details
Carole invites you on this lovely walk beginning in Market Street, Haddington.
The route will take us to Lennox estate, via River Tyne walk, St. Mary’s church, Burns well. At the end we can visit Cafe for refreshments.
- HADDINGTON: is often known as ‘the hidden toun’ because of the way it sits in its rural environment. It's a beautiful market town, rich in history and many attractions for us to see.
- ST MARY'S CHURCH (C14th): is of cathedral proportions and lies in a beautiful riverside setting by the (little) Tyne and near the mediaeval Nungate Bridge.
- NUNGATE BRIDGE: Old Nungate Bridge carried a main route into Scotland over the river Tyne. This 12th Century bridge has stood firm against many devastating floods in the last 800 years and is now only used by pedestrians.
- RIVER TYNE: Rises in the Moorfoot Hills and flows for 30 miles before emptying into the North Sea at Bellhaven.
