Details
Come & join Me and Dakota my German Shepherd dog for a afternoon stroll.
- The Hermitage of Braid, a 130-acre nature reserve running from Comiston to Liberton, is a haven for plants and wildlife.
- The visitor centre itself is located in the fine 18th-century mansion of Hermitage House, which has a three-bay ashlar front, with corner turrets, mock battlements and, inside, fine plaster-work and fire-places.
- We'll commence at the Blackford Glen Road entrance into the Hermitage.
- After a short stroll amongst the beautiful greenery, we continue walking along the waterside until we reach Braid Road.
- After a brief comfort break, we'll climb a short ascent up onto Braid Golf Course. (We walk beside the golf course).
- We follow the grassy path & then we have a short descent, before reaching a small wooden bridge which crosses the stream.
- We'll then head back to where we started.
- If we decide to do so, we could extend the length of the walk to include a stroll around Braidburn Park. After doing so, we would return back to The Hermitage before continuing the rest of the walk.
