Hermiston Park and Ride to Fountainbridge via Union Canal Towpath

Hi. Wednesday Walkers, just a different idea for a Wednesday walk.
Previously departed Hermiston Park and Ride in the west of the city , joined the Union canal towpath and headed away from Edinburgh City Centre towards Ratho and beyond. However this Wednesday, I plan to turn towards Edinburgh City Centre following the route of the Union Canal.
According to Google Maps , it is 5.1 miles to the Fountainbridge Canal Basin however I think that this might be as the crow flies therefore in reality perhaps a little bit longer.
As gravitating towards the city centre then opportunities will exist to curtail if the legs are feeling tired.
