FRIDAY: LOCH LEVEN HERITAGE TRAIL, KINROSS TO LOCH LEVEN’s LARDER

Details

Please read event description carefully before signing up.

Hana invites you to join her on this lovely Friday jaunt in Loch Leven National Nature Reserve. Walk is mostly flat on gravel paths.

We are starting at 10:30 to allow enough time for meanderings,
Visiting bird hides, having breaks and catching 14:08 bus back to Kinross.

LOCH LEVEN NATIONAL NATURE RESERVE:** is internationally important for its overwintering wildfowl, geese in particular (over 20,000 arriving each season) and Kirkgate Point is one of the places they choose to graze. Look out for greylag geese, gulls, cormorants and herons roosting here.

The Pier entrance offers a peaceful and tranquil setting with stunning views of the loch and the castle, once a prison for Mary Queen of Scots.

BURLEIGH SANDS
Scots Pine provide a lovely backdrop to the water and there are good views of Bishop Hill beyond. Crossbills are an elusive bird present here.
