Walk Description:
The walk starts at the Dalgety Bay Railway Station

We take the path to Fordell woods passing an imposing iron rich spring in the grounds of Fordell Castle then East through Pinnelhill Wood to the Mount Laura Tower, a Napoleonic watchtower where there will be a coffee stop.

The route then goes downhill to the Otterston Loch a popular place for feeding the ducks proceeding to the A921 for a short section then through the woods to St Colme House. Then along the edge of the Aberdour Golf Course to Charles Hill and the Monk’s Cave for a lunch break with views of Inchcolm and the Forth. We then navigate along the edge of the Braefoot Bay Gas Terminal to the Braefoot Point military harbour passing some WW1 gun batteries. The route then takes us along the beach past the ruined medieval Church of St Bridget’s to return to the Dalgety Bay. The final section passes Hugo’s Bistro which will be available for refreshments at the end of the walk, plenty of seating both outside and inside.

Participants should bring a small rucksack or similar with a snack lunch and liquid refreshment. Walking boots or firm footwear are recommended together with light waterproofs.

Travellers from Edinburgh can take the 10-03 train from Waverley arriving at Dalgety Bay at 10-30.

There are toilets at the BP Petrol Station opposite the Railway Station CP & at Hugo’s at the end of the walk.
