Mary invites you to join her on this walk through beautiful countryside, along the quiet seashore of the Firth of Forth, through the leafy Dalmeny Estate, past Dalmeny House, under the Forth Bridge and end in the historic village of South Queensferry.

YOU"LL SEE:
*EAGLE ROCK: The worn carving on the rock is said to have been carved by with the eagle of a Roman Legion-aires stationed at the fort at Cramond.
* KING TOM: Statue of famous racehorse King Tom. Lord Rosebery was a noted race horse owner.
*DALMENY HOUSE: Large Tudor Gothic mansion built (1814) for the 4th Earl of Rosebury to replace a much older house. The Rosebury's have owned the house for over 300 years. It's now home to the Earl and Countess of Rosebery and it's from here that the Rosebery Estates are managed.
*DALMENY GOLF COURSE: The 9 hole course is only played by members of the Dalmeny House Golf Club (primarily estate workers) and their guests.
*BARNBOUGLE CASTLE: Built by the 5th Earl of Rosebery, (Later to become Prime Minister) It's where he practised his speeches in the gallery hall built for this purpose
*HOUND POINT: Oil tankers from all over the world load up with oil from the North Sea which is refined at the Grangemouth Refinery
* FORTH RAIL BRIDGE: 2 km long and 100m to the top of the towers - completed over 125 years ago, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a spectacular feat in engineering.

GETTING TO THE START POINT

๐Ÿš™ CAR: There is limited street parking in the vicinity of 'Miller Carter' so factor in a bit of extra time to allow you to find a parking space.

RETURNING FROM SOUTH QUEENSFERRY:

๐Ÿš™ CAR: Take the 43 bus back to the start point to collect your car.

  • Distance: Approx 6.5 miles
  • Attire: Dress to suit the weather and wear comfy walking boots/shoes
  • Dogs: Welcome - need kept on leads whilst in the Dalmeny Estate.
  • Break: You'll stop for a break en route - so bring a snack
