About the Event
Gentle Open Mic is a welcoming, low-pressure space for performers and audience members alike - whether you’re sharing your work for the first time or the hundredth. Created by Max Price in partnership with Taunton Brewhouse, this community event is designed to nurture creativity, connection, and expression.
As a queer, neurodivergent singer-songwriter who struggles with imposter syndrome, I know how daunting it can be to put yourself out there. This night is about building confidence in a kind and supportive setting.

Not Performing? Just Come Along!
Whether you're there to support others, enjoy new voices, or just soak in the atmosphere, you are warmly welcome. Grab a drink, relax, and enjoy the night in a friendly, inclusive space.
Our Ethos
- We aim to hold space that is: inclusive, non-hostile, emotionally safe, trauma-informed, and welcoming to a broad range of people.
- We ask all performers to avoid “punching down” - making jokes at the expense of marginalised or vulnerable groups.
Age Guidance
- Recommended for ages 16+ (due to potential sensitive content and alcohol at the venue)
- Under-16s must be accompanied by a responsible adult

The Studio Theatre offers: step-free access, wheelchair spaces, and accessible facilities.
