Join us for our next meetup! Come talk maps, data, and anything geospatial/geography. Everyone is welcome, including newcomers.

Chad Blevins, a member of Meta’s Open Maps Team based in the DC area, will provide insights into recent efforts to improve pedestrian data for major U.S. cities, starting with D.C. and New York. The Open Maps Team is a big supporter of OpenStreetMap and maintains a suite of tools to capture and edit map data. Mapillary is an open platform to capture and host street level imagery that includes computer vision functions to help automated mapping. Mapillary works in conjunction with Rapid, which allows mappers to edit OSM directly using third party and computer-generated results.

Palmer Wilson from Blue Raster will talk about his experience as a DevOps engineer joining the GIS world. Palmer has worked as an AWS Public Sector Partner providing SaaS solutions for government, education, and nonprofit organizations around the world. As a DevOps Engineer he has deployed and maintained cloud environments for 24/7 critical uptime business product offerings in mixed Windows/Linux/Mac environments.

We will see you at Sudhouse!
