Saturday, May 10: Northwest (Zaanse Schans)
Every second Saturday of the month, as the owner of Geografiets, I organize a Social Bike Tour in Amsterdam! 🚴‍♂️ Each month, we explore a different direction, perfect for discovering the city by bike and meeting new people. Come and join us!

In May, we’ll head northwest from Café Café (Amstel 1), close to Waterlooplein.

Practical information:

• Gathering: From 10:15 AM onwards at Café Café (Amstel 1).

• Departure: We’ll get to know each other a bit first while you enjoy your favourite coffee or tea. When we’re ready, we’ll jump on our bikes!

• End: Between 4 and 5 PM.

• Distance: Approximately 40 km.

• Pace: Easygoing, 10–15 km/h.

• Cost: Free to join the waiting list. Your spot is guaranteed with a €10 reservation. A small tip afterward is always appreciated!

• RSVP: Will close once 14 participants have secured their spot.

• Bring: Your own (or rented) bike, clothing for the weather, and snacks/drinks for the ride.

Breaks:
We’ll have short breaks to chat, enjoy the scenery, and regroup. In addition, we will stop every 10 km or so for a 30–45 minute break to refuel and use the restroom if necessary.
Picnic:
It would be great if you could bring a (large) blanket and some food or drinks. We’ll have a relaxed picnic halfway through the ride. We’ll also make a short stop at a supermarket, for those who want to pick up something fresh on the spot.

About the tour:
This is not your typical tourist bike tour full of unnecessary chatter. Of course, feel free to ask me anything along the way—I’ll happily answer if I can! One thing’s for sure: I’ll never spread hot air or alternative truths. 😉

Who I am:
Hi, I’m Ronnie! Born in Hoorn (a charming town 40 km north of Amsterdam), I now live in the lively and never-boring center of Amsterdam.
By day, I’m a geography teacher, and I regularly contribute to creating educational geography materials for various organizations. Naturally, I love cycling and enjoy taking on (very) long rides. In 2019, I biked all the way to the northern Apennines in Italy, and in the summer of 2022, I completed a personal challenge of cycling through all 344 municipalities in the Netherlands.
