Social Bike Tour | Peatwaterlands

Details

Saturday, June 28: Peatwaterlands
Besides the monthly Social Bike Tours, I also organize special events like this one and it’s going to be an interesting experience between lakes (former peatlands) and forts!

We’ll start cycling from our usual meeting point at Café Café (Amstel 1), near Waterlooplein. We’ll get to know each other and once everyone has arrived we jump on our bikes and hit the road!

Practical Information:
Meeting point: Café Café (Amstel 1) — 10:15 AM
Departure: After introductions — around 10:45 AM
Return: Around 6:00 PM
Distance: Approximately 50 km (!)
Pace: Easy-going (10–15 km/h)
Cost: Free to join the waiting list. Your spot is guaranteed with a €10 reservation. A small tip afterward is always appreciated!
RSVP: Will close once 14 participants have secured their spot.
Bring: Your own bike (or rental), weather-appropriate clothing, and enough snacks and drinks for the ride.

Route:
I’m planning a fabulous one!
Breaks:
We’ll take short breaks along the way to enjoy the views, chat, take photos, and regroup. Roughly every 10–15 km, we’ll pause for a longer break (about 45–60 minutes) to recharge and use restrooms.
Note:
Participation is at your own risk. I’m not liable for any accidents, damages, or lost items.

About the Tour:
This isn’t a typical touristy bike tour full of scripted stories — that’s just not my style. Feel free to ask me anything along the way; I’m always happy to chat and share what I know. One promise: no hot air or alternative truths 😉
I’ll be riding at the front, and I’d love it if someone joins me up there for a good conversation! These Social Bike Tours are all about discovering the beauty of Amsterdam and its surroundings — and connecting with great people while doing so.

Who I Am:
Hi! I’m Ronnie, born in Hoorn (a lovely town 40 km north of Amsterdam), and now living in the never-boring center of the city.
I teach geography and create educational materials for various organizations.
I’m also a cycling enthusiast who loves long-distance rides:
In 2019 I cycled to the northern Apennines in Italy, and in summer 2022 I completed a personal challenge: cycling through all 344 municipalities of the Netherlands.
I’d love to get to know you during one of these Social Bike Tours.
Let’s enjoy a relaxed ride together, make new friends, and create great memories!
