The Grand Finale! Join us for the very last ride in the classic Geografiets format before we officially launch our brand-new community model on July 1st!
Welcome to a Geografiets Special Tour! Beside our member-led regular rides, I personally organize a few premium, fully-organized events per season. This Sunday, we are heading out for an authentic, scenic, and historic experience to Marken and Volendam!
We’ll gather at Screaming Beans (Waterlooplein) to grab a coffee and get to know each other. Once everyone is ready, we jump on our bikes and hit the road!

Practical information

• Meeting point: Screaming Beans, Waterlooplein at 8:00 AM
• Departure: Around 8:30 AM (after introductions)
• Return: Around 5:45 PM back in Amsterdam
• Distance: Approximately 58 km
• Pace: Easy-going and social (around 15 km/h)
• Cost: €30,- (This set fee fully covers your tour registration, a local polder ferry ticket, and the official ferry crossing from Marken to Volendam for both you and your bike. Note: food and drinks are on your own account.)
• RSVP: Limited to 14 participants (+ me) to ensure a cozy, high-quality, and safe group experience. Your spot is only fully confirmed once payment is received. (I will send you a payment link via MeetUp message after you sign up).
• Bring: Your own bike (or rental), sunscreen (it's going to be sunny! ☀️) and enough water/snacks for along the way.

The Route & Breaks: I have planned a fabulous scenic loop! We’ll ride northeast out of Amsterdam, cycling through the gorgeous, historic polder landscapes of Waterland. Once we reach the charming, traditional peninsula village of Marken, we’ll hop on the ferry to Volendam, a beautiful crossing across the Markermeer with amazing open views. From Volendam, we continue our loop back toward the city.
We’ll take short breaks roughly every 10–15 km to enjoy the views, chat, and take photos. We will also plan a longer lunch break (approx. 45–60 minutes) to relax and recharge. In both Marken and Volendam, there will be plenty of time to enjoy a picnic-style lunch or grab a bite and a cold drink on a local terrace.

About Geografiets Specials
This isn’t a typical touristy bike tour full of scripted corporate stories, that’s just not my style. As a geography teacher, I love sharing authentic insights about the landscapes, history, and unique regions we pass through.
I’ll be riding at the front and I’d love it if you join me up there for a good conversation! Geografiets is all about discovering the beauty of the Netherlands and connecting with great people while doing so.
