Join GeoNYC on June 17th for a special (spatial?) night of geo innovation for city planning and processing hosted by Google NYC.
OUR SPEAKERS
Scott Bridges of Google Maps NYC will provide an overview of Google Geospatial for emergency management and city operations. Scott is a 20 year veteran of the GIS industry with the the majority of his career working with Governments, Utility Companies and other large organizations to help them leverage and integrate geospatial data into their daily business practices.
Dave McClusky (@davidmcclusky) also of Google will discuss how to leverage the power of the Google Cloud for geospatial processing. Dave is a geospatial engineer for Google, working with customers to develop technical solutions leveraging the power of Google Maps, Earth and the cloud.
Sonam Velani (@sonamvelani) of the World Bank will present on Open Cities Project, (http://opencitiesproject.com/) which aims to crowd-create, crowd-manage, and crowd-use geospatial data throughout South Asia to build safer and smarter cities. Sonam is a member of the World Bank's South Asia Region Disaster Risk Management team, where she focuses on the identification, mitigation, and financing of risk to reduce the impact of disasters in mega-cities across the region.
Andrew Hill (@andrewxhill) of Vizzuality will give a rapid how-to on collecting data using CartoDB and Google Forms to create dynamic, real-time maps, or field based collection tools.
