Details
Join us on October 7th for a night of networked places. OK. The theme is vague but the line-up is already stellar, with more focus on theme and more speakers to come! Follow the conversation at #geonyc for the latest updates.
OUR SPEAKERS
Abhinav Sharma (@abhinavsharma (https://twitter.com/abhinavsharma)) is an engineer at Facebook working on the places and geo datasets. He has worked on the geocoding and reverse geocoding infrastructure at Facebook. He'll be talking about...well, maybe geocoding.
Arlene Ducao (@arlduc (https://twitter.com/arlduc)) is a Co-PI at The DuKode Studio in Brooklyn and a Research Affiliate at MIT Media Lab. Her projects examine the environment through creative computing. She and her business partner Ilias Koen will be talking about OpenIR (http://openir.media.mit.edu) and MindRider: The Brain Reading Helmet (http://mindriderhelmet.com). (http://mindriderhelmet.com) And apparently she also like chicken pie.
Colin Reilly is the Director of GIS/mapping at NYC DoITT and a lecturer at Montclair State. Colin along with Rudy Lopez, the Director of Geographic Systems at the NYC Department of City Planning. will be talking about the Geoclient API (geocoding service) the City recently ported to the cloud that is available through the NYC Developer Portal (https://developer.cityofnewyork.us/). His daughter’s band features him in many of their lyrics…often not too flattering.
