Hi GeoNYC,

Pratt SAVI is really excited to announce a new class for this summer:

Graphic Design and UX for Cartography with Kate Chanba.

Learn the foundations of visual and interaction design to effectively tell stories with maps and data. In discussion, labs, and critiques, we will explore how to make intentional choices about color, type, symbology, and layout for maps and other visualizations. We will experiment with different tools – both physical and digital, drawing on semiotics theory, Josef Albers’ color exercises, and emerging technology. Halfway through the course we will shift our focus to digital interaction and use real-world scenarios to apply design thinking to a mapping project workflow.

Tues/Thurs 6:30-9:30

5 Weeks: May 15-June 21 (no class week of June 4)

Course number: XSAVI 755

Price: $820

Prerequisites: None
