“China and Tech Innovation: An Unstoppable Path?” w/ U of C IOP
Details
China has become a technological superpower, with profound economic and security implications for the globe. Its industrial policy has boosted its A.I. infrastructure and hardware – like high-capacity servers and semiconductors – and helped to increase its stock of electric vehicles, batteries and solar panels. Now, with The Trump administration’s blessing of China’s purchase of advanced AI chips, will China continue to dominate the tech industry and by extension, the great powers' competition? Featuring Emily Feng, international correspondent for NPR and author of Let Only Red Flowers Bloom: Identity and Belonging in Xi Jinping's China, Kelley Currie, Former United States Ambassador-at-Large for Global Women's Issues, and Dr. Yangyang Cheng, IOP Pritzker Fellow, UChicago alumna and Research Scholar in Law and Fellow at Yale Law School's Paul Tsai China Center. Moderated by Bill Bishop, author of the blog Sinocism. Co-sponsored by International House. If you have any questions about accessibility, please contact [iopevents@uchicago.edu](mailto:iopevents@uchicago.edu). Thursday, November 6, 2025 5:30 p.m. CT International House
