Join us for a discussion that is to be Episode 2 of the series "Hybrid War - Clash of Civilizations", under production for YouTube by The Geopolitical Forum. The topic is the most salient geopolitical question facing Americans today in the emerging multipolar world order: Is China a threat to the USA?

The speaker, Eric Mao, practices objective subjectivity in geopolitics and world history. In addition to pursuing facts and truths--he will not rest until he can, without his own passion or prejudice (objective), get into the heads of the people on the ground (subjective).

Born and raised in a family that had migrated from Mainland China to Taiwan in the heat of the civil war between the Communists (CCP) and Nationalists (KMT), Eric lived one side of that history. He couldn't wait to explore the other side after coming to the U.S., which he considered a neutral territory in that regard. Yet, in terms of realpolitik the U.S. is anything but neutral in connection with China--as the tide of history would have it for the two great nations.

Hence, drawing on first-hand experience, Eric applies the method of objective subjectivity to the USA vis-a-vis China. He will share his reflections, observations, and projections in the discussion after the high-stakes Trump-Xi summit (Beijing, May 14 - 15) just ended.

After Eric's opener, the floor will be open to the audience, in-person and on Zoom, for questions, comments, and rebuttals.

Speaker: Eric Mao
A fintech professional-turned geopolitics analyst specializing in China, Eric is the founding partner of The Geopolitical Forum. He writes on Substack under @ericshepherdmao and has a presence on X as @ShepherdMao. His first book, Diversity the Modern Fetish and Equality in the Guise of Ideal (2018), will not be his only. The paradox, "the East and West are not comparable; yet contrasting is essential to an understanding," can be attributed to Eric.
