Inside Contemporary Asia: Politics, Power, & Information | Buffett Conversation

Join us for a conversation with James Griffiths, journalist and author of the critically acclaimed books The Great Firewall: How to Build & Control an Alternative Version of the Internet and Speak Not: Empire, Identity, & the Politics of Language. In conversation with Yingdan Lu, Assistant Professor of Communication Studies at Northwestern University’s School of Communication, Griffiths will draw on his 14 years reporting from more than a dozen countries across Asia.
They will explore China’s evolving political and information environment and the challenges of reporting from the region, with Griffiths sharing insights from his career, including as Asia correspondent and bureau chief for Canada’s national newspaper The Globe and Mail and senior producer for CNN International. Audience Q&A will follow.
Doors will open at 12:00 p.m., and lunch will begin at 12:15 p.m.
