“Data Centers and Our Communities” w/ IOP
Details
No topic over the last several years has galvanized Americans across the political spectrum like the rise of data centers in their communities. A new AP-NORC/EPIC poll found most Americans are concerned about the impact of data centers on electricity prices, water supply, and power outages. The poll also found Americans support policies regulating them, just as legislation to ban or reduce these centers has advanced in over a dozen states and scores of municipalities. How do states and localities – including Illinois – balance the critical need for high-tech jobs with the reality of maintaining a reliable and affordable power supply for regular households?
Featuring Mayor of Phoenix Kate Gallego, Acting Director at the Illinois Power Agency Brian Granahan, and Director of the Center for Environmental and Climate Justice at the NAACP Abre’ Conner, Esq. Moderated by Amy Harder, national energy correspondent for Axios.
Co-sponsored by the Energy Policy Institute.
