A Wildlife Photographer Talks Photo Safari

Details

The Coastal Chapter of the GNPA welcomes Ian Layton, a member of our chapter who will share his images and photo gear recommendations from a photo safari to several areas in Africa.

As wildlife photographers the allure of photographing some of the world’s most magnificent animals in their natural settings is a dream for many.
Sometimes, the gap between dream and realization can seem large.
However, having a successful photo safari, without the risk and challenge of roughing it in the bush, is very attainable.
Ian and Cindy Layton spent 10 days this June in Zimbabwe, Botswana and Zambia.
In this presentation, Ian will cover some of the options, gear choices and results of their trip.

BIO
Born and raised in the UK, Ian emigrated to the US to attend college, where he met his wife, Cindy.
After living in Texas for 42 years, he and Cindy moved to Savannah in 2022. Ian retired in 2023 after working in the Life Insurance industry as a software developer.
Ian and Cindy have been avid birders for 20+ years. At first they used photography as a supplemental method for bird ID.
Since retirement , Ian has started experimenting with digital photography, both as an adjunct to birding and as an art-form in Itself.

**This meeting is free and open to the public. If you plan to walk the trails after the meeting, please pay the fee at the reception desk in the visitors center. If you are not a member of the GNPA, check us out at GNPA. We welcome all photographers of all levels. All are welcome to go to lunch after the meeting and the restaurant will be decided at the meeting. There are many good restaurants close by Oatland Island Wildlife Center.
