Alpharetta Chapter Meeting: Photographing New Zealand's South Island
Details
Topic: Photographing New Zealand's South Island
Speaker: Vathana Sivanesan
Description: The South Island of New Zealand has more than just hobbits! It combines an extremely diverse landscape with dynamic weather conditions that provides an endless variety of compositions. It is an attractive location for nature photographers without the crowds of more popular options due to the travel commitments to get there. Those who are willing to commit are amply rewarded! Vathana Sivanesan joined a workshop led by New Zealand-based photographer William Patino. The workshop threw out some of the cardinal rules of landscape photography to take advantage of changing conditions. It also pushed Vathana’s limits with some uncomfortable surprises. If you have ever considered traveling to New Zealand, join Vathana to learn what all the fuss is about and how pushing your limits can help accelerate growth.
Speaker Bio: Vathana Sivanesan is a practicing employment attorney with Atlanta’s OneDigital. Interested in travel photography as a child, she decided to dive deep into learning nature photography when she needed a hobby for stress relief that also took her away from a desk. After moving to Georgia from Oregon, she joined GNPA to continue growing as a photographer and explore her new home. Vathana now uses photography as the basis for exploring the national park system and attending international workshops.
We plan to showcase your photos on TV in the meeting room prior to the speaker presentation. Please upload up to two nature photos that you have taken on the following link by noon the day of the meeting:
