17 May, Sat, 8:45am to 5pm Hike Congaree National Park, SC, 5-7 miles, moderate 2mph +/-. We will carpool at 9am from the Unitarian Church, 3501 Walton Way Ext. Augusta, GA to Congaree and hike the largest area of old growth hardwood forest and the most champion trees in the eastern US. We will hike the Weston Loop Trail following portions of an interpretive boardwalk, then traverse the largest contiguous river-bottom land east of the Mississippi and view some of the largest trees you may have ever seen. Grant Brown, Georgia Chapter Outings Chair, will be conducting an outings leader course in Marietta at the Switzer Library, 266 Roswell St SE, Marietta, GA 30060-2005, 10:30am-1:30pm on May 17.
