Sierra Club February Meeting
Details
Anthony Simmons is the Agriculture and Natural Resources Program Assistant for UGA Extension in Columbia County, Georgia, and Vice President of the Augusta’s River Region Chapter of the Georgia Native Plant Society. A retired U.S. Navy veteran with a B.S. in Natural Sciences and a background spanning linguistics and philosophy, he approaches restoration as both science and relationship: how landscapes function, and how people learn to live well within them.
Using contemporary ecological data and the work of researchers and practitioners including Douglas Tallamy, this session introduces Enhanced Native Renewal Gardening (ENRG), a practical framework for addressing “ecological malnutrition” in our landscapes by restoring the energy pathway from sunlight to native plants and the food web they support. This is designed as an interactive conversation, not a standard lecture. Bring your questions, your skepticism, and one real challenge from your yard, neighborhood, or property as we explore how to turn our spaces from static displays into living, dynamic habitats.
For those attending in-person, we meet at the Unitarian Universalist Church at 3501 Walton WayExtension, Augusta. For those attending virtually through Zoom, please click on the link: https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/Phuud1FpRHK1WKiyxN7aIQ
