Blood Mountain is the highest and most scenic part of the Appalachian Trail in Georgia. This is an excellent autumn introduction to the A.T. Trail. From Lake Winfield Scott, we will hike the Jarrard Gap trail then hike along the long ridges on the Appalachian Trail up to Blood Mountain. We will have lunch on top of Blood Mtn and return to Lake Winfield Scott via the Appalachian and Slaughter Creek Trails. Bring good boots and layers of clothing as we enjoy autumn in the mountains. The hike will be approx 5 hrs OF HIKING plus half-hour for lunch. We will take a moderate pace with rest stops. Approximately 8 miles with 1500 feet of elevation gain.
