About us
Hallo zusammen! This group is for anyone who wants to actively study, practice, and improve German in a supportive and encouraging environment. We combine structured learning with real conversation so members can build confidence and make steady progress together.
I am currently around A2.2 (Goethe tested) and not an expert. I'm here to improve as well and to create a community where we can all grow, support one another, and find effective ways to keep improving our German.
Advanced and native German speakers are appreciated and needed. Your presence helps others hear natural German, improve pronunciation, and move beyond textbook language. If you enjoy helping, you are welcome to guide conversations, answer questions, offer gentle corrections when asked, or share cultural and language insight. There is no pressure to formally teach. Anyone who volunteers to help will be recognized and appreciated. I'm happy to serve as a reference and will make sure others know the support you provide to the group.
This is not a formal class, but it is intentional and improvement-focused.
Monthly Structure
☕ Coffee Shop Conversation — Every 2 Weeks (1 hour)
Relaxed but purposeful speaking practice focused on applying vocabulary, improving fluency, and building comfort in real conversation.
📚 Library Study Session — Every 2 Weeks (1.5 hours)
More structured and learning-focused. Sessions may include vocabulary building, grammar review, pronunciation work, guided exercises, and supported conversation to apply what we study.
I will also keep an ear out for German cultural events, festivals, and opportunities we can attend together, and hope to eventually organize a group trip to Germany for those interested in experiencing the language and culture more deeply.
Mistakes are welcome! They are part of learning. The goal is consistent improvement, not perfection.
This group is open to beginners (A1), intermediate learners (A2–B1), advanced speakers, native speakers, and anyone who enjoys language learning and wants to grow together.
Gemeinsam lernen wir besser - together we learn better. 🇩🇪☕📚

Maifest in Leavenworth, WA (2027) Interest Check
Location not specified yetI'll be looking into the dates for next year and updating this to reflect a 2027 trip instead! I'll update the description when I find out, danke!
I'm considering organizing a group trip to the Leavenworth Maifest, a lively German/Bavarian spring festival held in the beautiful alpine-style town of Leavenworth in Washington.
Maifest is a traditional celebration of spring that takes place in many parts of Germany and German-speaking regions. The Leavenworth festival captures that festive spirit with music, dancing, traditional food, beer gardens, parades, and cultural events.
The festival runs three days (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, with Saturday being the most eventful day). This Meetup is not the official trip signup yet.
Right now I'm simply trying to gauge interest and logistics to see whether organizing a group trip makes sense. I'll post updates once I get more information from prospective attendees.Leavenworth is about a 12-hour drive, so transportation and lodging will require some planning.
What I'm Trying to Figure Out:If you RSVP, please answer the questions so we can estimate:
• How many people you would want to bring, if any
• Whether you want to drive yourself or share transportation
• How long you might like to stay (since the festival lasts 3 days)
• Whether you want to find your own lodging or would like to pitch in and I would set it up
• If I find lodging for us, if you would be open to sharing rooms or prefer your ownPossible Transportation Plan:
One option would be renting a 15-passenger shuttle van.
However, those vans can feel pretty tight once luggage is involved, so realistically we would probably plan for around 13-14 passengers for comfort.
If we rent a van, riders would simply split the cost(for now! See info on club shop below)
Of course, anyone is welcome to drive themselves as well.Supporting Club Events:
I'm also working on launching a club merchandise shop soon.
The goal is for all proceeds from club merchandise to go toward helping fund club activities such as:
• transportation for trips
• lodging for events
• food for gatherings
• materials for activities
Once the shop launches, we may also do fun incentives, such as offering a prize for members who sell a certain number of club shirts by May to help support club events.
More details on that soon!I hope many of you can join me for Maifest!
