Details
Saturday, March 7, 2026 | 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM
Tyler Library — Midvale, Utah
Come and join a welcoming and engaging German Speed-Friending event focused on conversation, connection, and building confidence in a relaxed, supportive environment. All levels are welcome, from complete beginners to more advanced speakers. This event is designed to help you meet new people, practice speaking naturally, and enjoy learning German together in a safe, encouraging space.
Format
1. We will begin with a brief welcome and explanation of the format and guidelines (5-10 minutes).
2. Participants will then rotate partners through short, structured conversation rounds using guided prompts and conversation sheets. We will aim for 8 rounds total, each about 4–5 minutes, adjusted slightly depending on group size and flow(40 minutes).
3. After the 4th(halfway) and the 8th(last) round we will pause, and a few participants can briefly introduce one person they met, in German if possible, and share something they learned about them(10 minutes total).
The entire event will last 60 minutes and whoever wants to continue chatting afterwards (whether in German or English) is welcome to meet at Ice Haus in Murray for lunch!
Language & Atmosphere
German is encouraged as much as possible throughout the event. However, this is a safe, supportive, judgment-free environment. No one should feel pressure or embarrassment based on their level. Please help one another and learn together.
