Welcome to the Meetup Group of the German-Canadian Congress in Winnipeg. Are you interested in German culture and/or the German language? Join us to practice your German or participate in German cultural events! We organize a variety of events like
- monthly events with seasonal activities
- a monthly authentic German breakfast featuring foods from local German suppliers
- a film event in fall, featuring a German movie with English subtitles (free of charge)
- a traditional German Christmas Market (Christkindlmarkt) in late November/early December with local artists, German imports, entertainment, and more.

Willkommen bei der Meetup-Gruppe des Deutsch-Kanadischen Kongresses in Winnipeg. Interessierst du dich für die deutsche Kultur und/oder die deutsche Sprache? Komme zu uns, um Deutsch zu üben oder an deutschen Kulturveranstaltungen teilzunehmen! Wir bieten eine Vielzahl von Veranstaltungen an:

German Breakfast / Deutsches Frühstück
German Canadian Congress (Office), 58-81 Garry Street, Winnipeg, MB, CAWe would like to invite you to our traditional German Breakfast. The Breakfast takes place in the office of the German-Canadian Congress in the Fort Garry Place Mall. It is a great opportunity to get together, meet new people and even improve your German language skills.
Please RSVP by October 15, 6 pm, so we can ensure that we have enough food for everyone. Note that registration may close earlier if we reach capacity.
To cover costs we will be charging $9/person ($6.50 for members of the German-Canadian Congress). Please bring cash or pay in advance through this registration form.
Note that this is an event hosted by the German-Canadian Congress (GCC). You can either RSVP here or on the GCC website. Please avoid "double registration".

Free Movie Screening "Zu weit weg" (Too Far Away)
Dave Barber Cinematheque, 100 Arthur St, Winnipeg, MB, CAThe German-Canadian Congress, in collaboration with the General Consulate Toronto and the Goethe Institute Montreal, cordially invite you to join us for the free screening of Zu weit weg (Too Far Away; Germany, 2019, 92 min.) on the occasion of German Heritage Month on Monday, October 19, at 7 p.m. at 100 Arthur Street (Artspace Building).
Directed by Sarah Winkenstette, Zu weit weg tells the story of Tim who, after moving to a new city, is the outcast at school. A talented striker, Tim joins the soccer team but is outshined by another newcomer: Tariq, a refugee from Syria. Despite all differences, the two boys soon realize they have more in common than they think.
Please be advised that the movie does not have English subtitles and will be presented in the original German-language version.
