Talk:
Our AI-driven Approach to Sustain Git Performance Under Heavy Workloads
Git repositories that are under heavy load quickly become inefficient or even inaccessible. This impacts client operations of all types (e.g., reads, writes). Currently, the only countermeasure is to run the full Garbage Collection (GC) routine. Yet as new writes accrue, the repository can quickly drift back into a bad state. To mitigate this, often GC is run on a schedule; however, it can often take a considerable amount of time to run a full GC cycle, and we also run the risk of introducing additional load at inopportune times (e.g., running GC during a burst of repository activity may bring nodes to a standstill).
In this talk, we will introduce the GerritForge Health Service (GHS)—our AI-driven approach to maintaining the performance of Git repositories that undergo heavy workloads, effectively ensuring that even the busiest of repositories can still be used effectively by CI systems and developers alike.

Speakers:
Fabio Ponciroli & Shane McIntosh
