Is one of your new year's resolutions to read more in 2026? Let's make it easy and read a book with lots of pictures! Well, actually, I'm suggesting to read the classic manga, Lone Wolf and Cub.

This will be a book club style review where we'll start off with each of us giving a 2 or 3 minute summary of what we thought of the book. We'll then have an open discussion on any particular aspects of the book that drew our attention. At the end we'll go round again and get everyone’s score out of 10 for the book and any closing thoughts.

We'll be covering Lone Wolf and Cub: The Assassin's Road (Volume 1). Here's some blurb:
Lone Wolf and Cub: The Assassin's Road (Volume 1) introduces Ogami Ittō, the Shogun's disgraced executioner, and his toddler son, Daigorō, as they wander Edo-period Japan as masterless samurai (ronin) taking on lethal assassin jobs to fund their quest for revenge against the powerful Yagyū clan who framed them and murdered his wife.

At the moment you can get a digital version of Lone Wolf and Cub: The Assassin's Road (Volume 1) and some other comics as part of a Humble Bundle starting at £0.74. If you prefer a physical copy then this omnibus edition includes volumes 1 and 2 plus some of volume 3 at £14.99.

We will join a zoom call for our discussions. We will post the link roughly 10 minutes before the start of the meeting.
