Porto: Late Summer Special

Details

Let's make the most of the late summer sunshine in one of Europe's most attractive cities, Porto. With colourful houses cascading down the hillside and a wealth of baroque and mediaeval architecture in the UNESCO centre, combined with the famous port wine and great food at bargain prices, it makes an ideal weekend getaway.

The Itinerary (subject to change)

Fri 4 October

Fly to Porto where a taxi or minibus will be waiting at the airport to take you to the hotel to check in.
Depending on arrival times, I will be on hand to show people around or give advice on what to do. We can have a casual stroll around the city enjoying the sights and panoramic viewpoints whilst enjoying some Pastel de Nata and coffee.
We can also visit one of the best food markets with a huge array of both wine and tasty snacks.
In the evening we can visit some of the bars in this vibrant city.

Sat 5 October

We can start our day at a great market for breakfast before we meet our guide who will show us the highlights of the city including the baroque cathedral, the tower of Clerigos, the beautiful Luis iron bridge and the mediaeval Ribeira district.
I will then take you across the river to a great market on the riverfront for some fresh food options before we visit one of the special wineries in this district and sample a selection of their best port wines and snacks whilst learning about the centuries old history of the product.
We can then try a wine/pub crawl nearby or you can visit a restaurant of your choice in the city.

Sun 6 October
For those departing after 3pm we can go for breakfast at the market and take the vintage tram along the Duoro river and take a walk along the beach area and a coffee and snack before a bus back to the hotel and taxis to the airport.
