Valencia: Late Summer Special (Sep 26-28)

Details
This trip will be confirmed when 8 people sign up
Valencia is simply one of Europe's best cities. After recovering from the devastating floods last year, the city has a renewed energy and determination to live life to the full.
The city is packed with incredible architecture and a stunning garden complex surrounding the centre which culminates in the modern architecture complex which is simply mind-blowing in it's beauty.
But most of all the energy and buzzing nature of the city and it's people and the amazing range of bars and restaurants are the real highlights. This is where Paella originates and is just one dish you will want to try amongst the wine bars and craft beer places.
We will enjoy all this and the town of Xativa with its fascinating history and stunning hilltop castle.
The Itinerary (subject to change)
Fri 26 Sep
Early arrivals can enjoy the city and visit any museums of interest or enjoy a meal at one of the many great restaurants. I will be available in the evening for a casual stroll and bar crawl around the centre until the small hours. A great atmosphere guaranteed.
Sat 27 Sep
I will lead a casual tour through the main sights of Valencia whilst showing you some great coffee places, cute restaurants etc. amongst the magnificent architecture. A myriad of churches, museums and narrow lanes culminate in a visit to the 13th century Cathedral.
We can then visit the superb market hall and surroundings. One of the best in Spain, there are so many food options including Valencia's own Paella, wine stands, sandwiches, coffee places and lots more.
Then we will take a lovely walk through Valencia's prize possession, the Turia Gardens. Stretching for miles around Valencia, it's a haven for walks, sports, nature and exercise before reaching the incredible Palace of the Arts complex. A simply stunning array of architecture, museums and nature, it will blow you away.
Here you can either stay and visit one of the museums and return to the hotel or join me on a longer walk to some great bars including a fantastic brewery with great beers and free homemade tapas.
In the evening we have a chance for a Saturday bar crawl visiting some of my favourite places, all wildly different.
Sun 28 Sep
Today we can take the train an hour away to the historic town of Xativa. Known for it's Pre-Roman, Roman and mediaeval history, it's also where the infamous Borgia dynasty originated and 2 popes came from. The main attraction is the ancient castle perched on top of the hill, the climb there and views will definitely be worth the effort.
After stopping for some lunch, we will return to Valencia about 3pm for last sightseeing and taxis for our evening flights.
