G-O Hike: Let's hike the Omanawanui track and its surrounds!

Hi guys! Come join the fun with Get-Outside at Omanawanui!
On the mentioned Saturday, we will be visiting Whatipu, to do the Omanawanui track and the Whatipu Beach. This track offers great views of the Manukau Harbour and some cool cave scenery afterwards at the beach.

IMPORTANT NOTES & UPDATES:-

• Distance from CBD: 40kms
• Meet Up Time and Location: 2pm at New World New Lynn, or directly at the Omanawanui Track Carpark at 3pm.

• Difficulty Rating: This is a moderate to difficult track. There are some steep climbs involved. You need to have good fitness and a good sense of balance to be able to do this track.

• Suitability: Suitable for people with a good level of fitness and balance.

• Bring: Drinking water, snacks, sun cream, clean and sturdy footwear suitable for walking & a relatively dry bag if you are bringing your camera and/or phone with you on the walk. And don't forget to bring your passion for the outdoors! :)

• Completion time: We plan to finish things by about 6pm at the latest (it will be dark, so please bring a torch).

• Footwear: Hiking shoes are required. You will not be able to do the track without shoes with good grip and it will expose you to unnecessary risk. Please note that you may get your footwear wet!

• Drinking Water: Please bring your own.

• Toilets: Available at Whatipu road car park.

• Transport/Car Pooling: If you can offer rides to people or wish to request if you can carpool with someone then you can mention this under the 'Conversation' section below on this page and contact each other from there. Please also answer the RSVP question.

• RSVP to this event: Please only RSVP Yes to this event if you are genuinely intending on coming. If your circumstances change and you are unable to attend please change RSVP asap to allow other people the chance to attend. Once available spaces are full for the event there is a waiting list option you can join. If you RSVP and don't show up or contact us, it will be treated as a 'No Show'. If you 'No Show' without any reason you will be removed from the group.

• Cellphone Coverage: Cell phone coverage is patchy and may be absent.

• Weather: You can check latest weather updates on www.metservice.com.I will also check the weather forecast day before the hike and update everyone. If the weather looks miserable, then the event may be rescheduled to a different weekend. I will advise two days in advance at the very latest. Please check the message board regularly to receive the most up to date information.

• Animal and other precautions: Please be advised that we may encounter the usual New Zealand wildlife during the hike. Please also advise us of any allergies/other health precautions you may need to take.

• Costs: This is a free event.
