G-O Hike: Walk it out at Tapapakanga!

Hey there Awesome Get-Outsiders! Come and join us for another Saturday exploring Tapapakanga Regional Park.
• Distance from CBD: 68kms, 1 hr 20 min drive.
• Meet Up Time: Please meet by Cafe Miko at the Auckland Botanic Gardens by 8.30am or at the carpark by the end of Deerys Road (https://maps.app.goo.gl/ju1MvxiU4ozanuVe8) at 9.45am.
• Difficulty Rating: Moderate - a few ups and downs over farm land.
• Suitability: Suitable for people with GOOD fitness.
• Completion time: We expect to be finished the walk by 12.30pm in time for lunch, you are welcome to stay around after and relax at the beach with us for another couple of hours after if the weather is nice/not too cold.
• Footwear: Proper walking/hiking footwear is advised. Please be advised that at this time of year you may get your shoes wet and muddy depending on the weather. Bare feet/jandals are not advisable due to the risk of injury.
• Drinking Water: Please bring your own, there are no public taps for filling up water bottles at the park.
• Toilets: there are public toilets by the beach and about 1/2 way along the walk.
• RSVP to this event: Please only RSVP Yes to this event if you are genuinely intending on coming. If your circumstances change and you are unable to attend please change RSVP asap to allow other people the chance to attend. Once available spaces are full for the event there is a waiting list option you can join. If you RSVP and don't show up or contact us, it will be treated as a 'No Show' and may be removed from the group.
• Cellphone Coverage: Cell phone coverage is likely to be patchy in places.

MAIN DETAILS:-
• Meet: We will gather at 8.30am by Cafe Miko at the Botanic Gardens
• Further Details: After brief introductions we will drive to Tapapakanga together. Once we get there, we will set off on the coastal walk, which climbs up over farm land and then loops back along the coast looking out over the Firth of Thames.
• Duration: The walking will probably take about 2 hours, and we will stop to eat lunch together at the beach after. Bring your togs/wetsuit if you fancy a swim, although the water is likely to be pretty cold at this time of year!
• Transport/Car Pooling: If you can offer rides to people or wish to request if you can carpool with someone then you please mention this under the 'Conversation' section below on this page and contact each other from there.
• Bring: Drinking water, lunch, sun cream, sun hat, clean and sturdy footwear suitable for walking, suitable clothing for the weather, swimming gear (if you are brave to do so at your own risk) and a relatively dry bag if you are bringing your camera and/or phone with you on the walk. And your passion for the outdoors! :)
• Costs: This is a free event.
