G-O Hike: Bethells to Raetahinga Point

Hello fellow Get‑Outsiders! Come join us for a beautiful coastal walk on Auckland’s west coast. After introductions, we will make our way from Bethells Beach to O’Neill Bay and up to Raetahinga Point, enjoying the rugged scenery, the sound of the surf, and the peaceful rhythm of the morning. This is a relaxed, friendly outing where we take our time, enjoy the views, and settle into the landscape.
After reaching Raetahinga Point, we will return the same way. Once back at Bethells, we will walk along the full length of the beach together — a chance to unwind, chat, and enjoy the open coastline before finishing up.
## IMPORTANT NOTES & UPDATES:
• Car‑pool Meeting Point: 8:30am at New World New Lynn (meet in the main carpark). • Beach Meeting Point: 9:30am at the main Bethells Beach carpark (end of Bethells Road). • Difficulty Rating: Moderate (coastal track with stairs and short climbs). • Suitability: Suitable for people with reasonable fitness. • Completion Time: We expect to finish by around 1:00pm. • Footwear: Comfortable walking footwear with good grip; avoid jandals. • Drinking Water: Please bring your own. • Toilets: Public toilets available at the Bethells carpark. • RSVP to this event: Please RSVP “Yes” only if you genuinely intend to come. If your plans change, update your RSVP as soon as possible so others can join. Late cancellations (within 24 hours) or no‑shows may be recorded as such. • Cellphone Coverage: Patchy but generally available. • Transport/Car Pooling: Please answer the car‑pool question when you RSVP to help with planning. • Bring: Water, snacks, footwear/clothing suitable for walking, a rain jacket, sun protection, a camera for great photos, and your love for the outdoors! • Weather: Check www.metservice.com for updates. I will also check the forecast the day before and update everyone.
