G-O Hike: Comans Track and Piha
Details
Hello fellow Get‑Outsiders!
Come join us on a walk along Comans Track in Piha this July!
## Overview
A friendly Saturday morning hike run by volunteers to help us get outside, breathe, and reset.
## Plan
• Meet: New World New Lynn at 07.30am or end of Log Race Road, Piha at 08.30am • Duration: Around 3-3.5 hours • Route: A beautiful ridge track above Piha with coastal views, native bush, and a steady climb. We walk up to the lookout point and return the same way with one possible variation. • Finish: Back at the cars by just around 12:00 PM • Toilets: Public toilets available at Piha
## What to Bring
• Comfortable walking shoes with good grip • Water • A light snack • Warm layers — it’s mid‑winter • Optional: walking poles, hat, rain jacket
## Weather
We hike regardless of the weather unless conditions are unsafe (e.g., cyclones or earthquakes). I’ll still check the forecast the day before and update everyone if needed.
## Safety
• This is a free, volunteer social walk • You are responsible for your own safety and wellbeing • Please stay on the track and walk within your comfort level • If you feel unwell or need to turn back, that’s always okay
## Accessibility
• Moderate climb • Some uneven ground and roots • Can be slippery after rain • Not suitable for prams or very young children
## Transport
• Parking is limited — please allow a few extra minutes • Carpooling encouraged if possible
## Questions?
Just message in the group — happy to help.
## RSVP
• RSVP to this event: Please RSVP “Yes” only if you genuinely intend to come. If your plans change, update your RSVP as soon as possible so others can join. Late cancellations (within 24 hours) or no‑shows may be recorded as such and removed from the group.
Hope to see you there! Happy times everyone! :)
