G-O Hike: Arataki Loop Track and nature trail

Hello fellow Get‑Outsiders!
Come join us on a walk around the loop track from Arataki Visitor Centre, followed by the nature trail afterwards!
## Plan
• Meet: New World New Lynn at 08.30am or in front of the Arataki Centre at 09.00am
• Duration: Around 3.5-4 hours (including both the loop track, lunchtime, and the nature trail)
• Route: We will go around the loop track starting at the visitor centre, and end back at the visitor centre. We will then stop for lunch and a break, then do the shorter nature trail also next to the visitor centre.
• Finish: Back at the cars by just around 1 PM
• Toilets: Public toilets available at the visitor centre
## What to Bring
• Comfortable walking shoes with good grip • Water • A light snack, and lunch • Warm layers • Optional: walking poles, hat, rain jacket, sunscreen
## Weather
We hike regardless of the weather unless conditions are unsafe (e.g., cyclones or earthquakes).
## Safety
• This is a free, volunteer social walk • You are responsible for your own safety and wellbeing • Please stay on the track and walk within your comfort level • If you feel unwell or need to turn back, that’s always okay
## Accessibility
• Moderate climb, but mostly downhill in the direction we will be going • Some uneven ground • Can be slippery after rain • Not suitable for prams
## Transport
• Plenty of parking at the visitor centre • Carpooling encouraged - please make own arrangements in the messages, or ask for a ride at New World
