A walk along the Thames from Rainham station (Essex) to Grays.
This is approx 10 miles with the option to drop out at Purfleet around half distance.
This will be weather dependent so dont buy train tickets too far In advance in case Its cancelled due to bad weather.

The train from Leigh-on-sea at 9am via Grays arrives at Rainham for a 10.05 start. Then train back to Leigh / Rainham etc afterwards from Grays.
Standard return Leigh to Rainham is £12.60.
If you’re coming by car, parking at rainham station is £4.20 for the day.
There are lots of interesting sights to see along the riverbank. See the concrete barges, walk under the Dartford crossing, watch container ships being loaded and see lots of graffiti style artwork.

Possible short excursion for those wanting to see the church from the ‘Four weddings and a funeral’ funeral scene.

We will stop for a lunch break at Purfleet. This might have be to be a picnic as the rspb café has closed down although Its toilets remain open. I’ll look for other options and advise.
We will stop for breaks when we need to. We dont need to rush, we can take our time and take in the views.

Once at Grays there are food options including a chip shop and pubs etc for those wanting refreshments.
