What we’re about
Our goal is to help you explore on foot the abundance of wonderful natural places North Carolina has to offer. If you're a beginner, we'll make sure that you never hike alone (unless you want to!). We'll also teach you how to become an intrepid hiker capable of exploring wherever (the rugged Linville Gorge Wilderness, for instance) and whenever (at night!). We're aided in our efforts to get out and explore by Great Outdoor Provision Co., which provides us space for clinics and meetings, and pays the fee for our Meetup site.

Amelie's French Bakery - Park Road Backlot, 4321 Park Road, Charlotte, NC, USWeather has improved! No rain and warmer!
Please note this is posted in multiple groups and about 25 people going. Looks to be a fun night walk and visit to Amelie’s Bakery 😍
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
BE FESTIVE!!! Wear your ugly Christmas sweater, Santa Suit, Elf hat, Santa hat, angel wings, wear a string of lights, glow sticks, glow bracelets, earrings haha be creative! Not required.
PLEASE DO BRING A FLASHLIGHT just in case you need it. If most of us are lit up or blinking we won’t be hard to follow or find!!!
The lights viewing will not end on Hillsdale, the walk I have mapped out is a 4 mile walk taking 2-2.25 hours depending on how fast we walk. Plenty of time to get back and enjoy some social time at Amelie’s.
If there is a group that prefers a very short walk, I have a 45 minute version.
Hillside Avenue in Myers Park residents create a festive drive through (or walk through) for a worthy cause collecting cash or food donations for Fishes and Loaves. If you feel inspired, you may bring one or more food items or cash to donate to the cause. There will be a tent set up on the street to collect food and cash donations. Please join a festive stroll down Hillside Avenue enjoying the residents individuality and festive seasonal decorations. Know for their chicken wire Christmas Light Balls (can anyone help me create one??) it's a Charlotte community event. We will meet at the Amelie's parking lot which is in the rear parking lot of Park Road Shopping Center behind the Michaels Crafts Store. Use the location in the meetup map to help you find it if you are not familiar. You may wish to arrive early and get a hot chocolate or hot drink to help you stay warm. Please dress warmly and in layers as it looks to be in the 30's next Tuesday evening. Cold, but not the coldest evening of the week! We will begin on the Greenway behind Amelie's and walk approximately a half mile to Hillside Avenue and then saunter up Hillside Avenue, around Queens Rd West returning via Freedom Park to Amelie's parking lot via the Greenway. Amelie's closes at 9pm, so there may be time after the walk for another hot chocolate or tasty post walk treat. Amelie's is a French Bakery with something for everyone including dairy free hot chocolates and gluten free baked items. Hope you can join in and you may bring a food or cash donation if you would like to participate in the Food Drive.
