Humpback Rocks BACKWARDS and Blue Mountain Brewery!

Details
I love the views on top of Humpback Rocks. This time, we are going to do the hike backwards. From the Humpback Rocks parking lot, we will take the Appalachian Trail to Hump back Rocks and climb down Humpback Rocks to the parking lot. Bring your poles for the downward trek. I would call this a moderate hike. It should be a partly sunny day with the with a high of 64. Great for hiking. Water is a must.
We'll meet at the Humpback Rocks parking lot at 10 am at Mile Post 6 on the Blue Ridge Parkway. (It is on your left, past the Visitors Center, with its primitive toilets, at MP 5.8) Dogs are welcome, BUT you must have good control of your dog. Arf, Arf... As soon as we finish introductions, we will take off. The parking lot gets crowded even during the week.
All Trails lists the hike as 4.3 miles, but it seems longer to me. The hike will take us 2 1/2 to 3 hours. The view is worth it, believe me. If you bring a dog, keep your dog on leash at the top unless you really trust him/her. You will give me a heart attack. (My dogs have been to the top of the rocks off leash, and so far so good.)
Humpback Rocks is 32 miles from Charlottesville, the closest of the Mountain Hikes. You will be taking the Afton exit, off of 64. There is no charge for hikes on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
After the hike, those who would like to join me will meet at the Blue Mountain Brewery for lunch. 9519 Critzers Shop Rd, Afton, VA 22920
